Meet Your Principal

Welcome to Amanda Arnold Elementary School, Home of the Pandas!

Headshot of Kathy StittHAPPY SUMMER! We wish you all a safe and fun summer vacation. Enjoy your family time and take time to relax and make memories! Thank you for a great year. Go Pandas!

Our students and staff have worked very hard this school year. We remain around 440 students in grades Kindergarten-5th grade. We also have 85 educators working with our students. Our PTO, families, Site Council, and community members all play an important role in the success of our school community. Thank you for your on-going support with the education of our students and your support of our excellent teaching staff. We can't thank you enough for all of the acts of kindness shown to our teachers.

Our school has a positive learning environment focusing on building relationships with our students, families, and staff. We have a school-wide emphasis on the 6 Pillars of Character Education: Trustworthy, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship. Students work hard to earn 6 Pillar Brag Tags.

This year, we learned about using the CHAMPS model for our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). This is a simple system using the CHAMPS acronym for Conversation, Help, Activity, Movement, and Participation. We have implemented the CHAMPS system in our special area classes, the cafeteria, and most all classrooms in small group instruction. Each teacher is developing the CHAMPS model to fit their classroom needs.

Our focus for Personalized Learning first semester was on the competencies of Perseverance, Communication, and Collaboration. All students and staff developed in their own personalized way. The second semester focused on Innovation, Critical Thinking, and Community Connections.

We invite our families to be involved in our PTO and/or Site Council. To join anytime, please call our school office or send an e-mail! Communication is done through the Panda Press newsletter, AA Facebook page, principal emails through ParentSquare and consistent communication from our classroom teachers. Go Pandas! We will see you in August, for the first day of class on August 13.
